CONFERENCE THEME

In an era marked by rapid technological evolution, the field of Information Systems (IS) must adapt to the dynamics of a continually transforming digital landscape (Aubert & Chan, 2024; Tanriverdi,et al 2010; Hanseth & Modol, 2021). Tim and Leidner (2023) introduce the concept of digital resilience, presenting a framework for understanding how IS can enhance the capacity to recover from exogenous shocks.  Digital data infrastructures are conceptualized as partial connections that both organize and disorganize social relations (Ratner & Plotnikof, 2021). These papers collectively underscore the importance of adapting IS research to address emerging technologies, their societal impacts, and the need for resilient digital infrastructures, aligning with the theme of reimagining IS research for an evolving digital world.

The theme “Reimagining IS Research for an Evolving Digital World” invites novel contributions that explore how IS research can navigate, leverage, and critically assess emerging digital trends. This includes understanding the integration of disruptive technologies, such as artificial intelligence (Schoormann, et al. 2023; Fosso-Wamba et al., 2024), blockchain (Rossi et al., 2019), Internet of Things (Shim et al., 2020), and metaverse (Kumar et al., 2025), into organizational (Kumar et al., 2016) and societal contexts (Majchrzak, et al. 2016; Michel et al., 2023; Ben Nasr et al., 2024). Key challenges involve the technical and methodological adjustments required to analyze vast and complex data ecosystems and the ethical, privacy, and security risks these innovations bring (Dennehy et al., 2024). The potential for IS research to shape resilient digital infrastructures and equitable technological solutions underscores the imperative of interdisciplinary perspectives and theoretical advancements. Contributors are encouraged to propose frameworks that address the intersection of human-centered design (Harfouche et al. 2023a) and machine intelligence (Harfouche et al 2023b), examine the role of IS in fostering sustainable digital practices, and anticipate future societal impacts. By advancing our theoretical and practical approaches, this call seeks to harness IS as a catalyst for positive transformation, with a keen focus on mitigating risks and enhancing benefits in a digitally connected world.

 

Conference Objectives:

  • To explore the latest advancements in Augmented Intelligence and its applications in various sectors.

  • To discuss the ethical, social, and technological implications of integrating AI with human decision-making.

  • To foster interdisciplinary collaboration among researchers, practitioners, and policymakers in the field of AI and human augmentation.

  • To showcase innovative solutions and case studies that highlight the practical applications of Augmented Intelligence in creating smarter societies.

 

Call for Contributions:

We warmly invite scholars and practitioners to share their insights, research findings, and experiences in the fields of Information Systems (IS) and other management disciplines, such as Organizational Behavior, Strategy and Innovation, Supply Chain Management, Marketing and Consumer Behavior, and Human Resource Management.  By offering diverse perspectives on the role of IT in enhancing human decision-making, this call aims to foster innovative discussions and chart new pathways toward the development of smarter, more adaptive, and more responsive societies.

In addition, we strongly encourage research contributions that propose innovative and original methodologies (e.g., design science approaches, mixed-method studies, computational experiments, ethnographic research, or machine learning-based modeling) to address the complexities of an evolving digital landscape. Such methods can provide fresh perspectives and open new avenues for understanding disruptive technologies' technical, social, and ethical dimensions.

We also warmly invite the submission of special session proposals that explore unique or emerging topics related to the conference theme, Reimagining IS Research for an Evolving Digital World. Special sessions allow focusing on specific issues, trends, or interdisciplinary approaches that can enrich the conference program. Examples of topics might include disruptive technologies, the ethical implications of AI, sustainable digital practices, or frameworks for resilient digital infrastructures.

Special session proposals can be submitted in English or French, reflecting the conference's commitment to diversity and global collaboration.
